Project Overview:

The founder of Tree Matrix wanted to take his subject matter expertise in tree preservation to create tools for tree preservation and sustainable planting as a SaaS website. I conducted market research, help secure investor funding, and joined the startup as Co-Founder and COO. We created Tree Matrix into an essential tool for predicting tree preservation and determing appropriate and sustainable landscape planting.

Challanges:

Need to define product strategy (target market, sales channels, product requirements), marketing strategy (logo and branding, video assets, ad strategy), and operations strategy (Charlottesville, VA office for staff, policies and proceedures to ensure good communication and team efficency).

Outcome:

In charge of people operations, recruiting, and facilities. Defined and codified company culture, policies, and procedures, including automating processes through Google Docs. Identified hiring needs, created job postings, and made hires for development, marketing, and finance. Conducted employee onboarding and training. Established feedback and evaluation systems. Provided thought leadership to the CEO in areas of technology, operations, and HR.
